About the scheme, objectives and target group

To address the issue of declining CSR, GoI has launched Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme. The scheme was launched by Honorable Prime Minister on 22^ndJanuary 2015 at Haryana. By undertaking mass campaign across the nation, focussed intervention and multi-sectoral action in the first phase the scheme has been started in 100 districts where the CSR has been critical. On 2^nd January 2016, the Government decided to extend the scheme in another 61 districts.

With the goal of celebrating girl child and enabling her education, the scheme has following objectives:

Prevent gender biased sex selective elimination Ensure survival and protection of the girl child

Ensure education for and participation of the girl child
